Half a Day in Dubai: Seeing the Best of It with a Chauffeur

Seeing the best of Dubai in half a day

By the shore

Start on the coast. Dubai Marina, the boardwalk at JBR, and a slow drive along Palm Jumeirah set the city's modern register before you go anywhere else. Atlantis at the tip of the Palm is the natural turnaround.

Culture and heritage

For a heritage-focused route, start at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood for a sense of the older city. Cross the Creek by abra (the chauffeur picks you up on the other side) and walk through the Gold and Spice Souks. Leave time to walk and arrange the collection point before crossing.

Retail

Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates are an obvious anchor if your visit needs one. With a chauffeur, you arrive at the door, drop the bags in the car between stops, and don't think about parking.

Modern icons

Another option is to choose from the modern landmarks: Burj Khalifa for the height, the Museum of the Future for the architecture, and the Dubai Frame for the contrast between old and new on either side of it. These are best in the late afternoon as the light softens.

How to plan the five hours
